Ivonne Verduzco, a student at the Keck School of Medicine of USC, is determined to find answers about a rare disease called idiopathic granulomatous mastitis (IGM). Scientists know little about this painful and disfiguring inflammatory condition, which primarily affects Latinas. It is uncommon enough to be listed in the National Organization for Rare Disorders database, so many people — including physicians — have never heard of it.

In a recently released video, Verduzco details her history at the Keck School, along with her mission to improve awareness of and treatments for IGM.
