Becker’s Hospital Review has recognized USC Verdugo Hills Hospital and USC Arcadia Hospital for their excellence and leadership.
Both hospitals have been named a 2025 Great Community Hospital due to their dedication to clinical excellence, academic advancement and personalized, comprehensive care delivery. The recognition is based on nominations and data from respected organizations, including U.S. News & World Report, Healthgrades, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and The Leapfrog Group.
Additionally, Armand Dorian, MD, MMM, CEO of USC-VHH, and Ike Mmeje, president and CEO of USC-AH, have both been recognized by Becker’s Hospital Review as 2025 Community Hospital Presidents and CEOs to Know.
Dorian and Mmeje were among leaders honored for their innovative thinking and their efforts to expand services to include primary care, specialty treatments, rehabilitation, public health programs and beyond. They were also commended for shaping a positive workplace culture, steering long-term strategy, growing service lines and ensuring financial sustainability.
“Our community hospitals are essential to Keck Medicine’s goal of offering high-quality, compassionate health care close to home and providing access to the highly specialized services at Keck Medical Center of USC,” said Keck Medicine CEO Rod Hanners. “I am so proud of the work these two hospitals are doing as well as Dr. Dorian and Ike’ s continued leadership that ensures the best possible environments for their staff, patients and community.”
USC-VHH services include a 24-hour emergency room, a primary stroke center, cardiac rehabilitation and imaging and diagnostic services. The hospital has earned accreditation for its nurse residency program and emergency department accreditation program redesignation, and in 2023 was awarded an “A” grade from The Leapfrog Group for achieving the highest national standards in patient safety.
USC-AH became part of Keck Medicine in 2022. Recently, the hospital became the system’s hub for inpatient rehabilitation, offering services ranked in the top 3% nationwide. It is also a designated comprehensive stroke and STEMI receiving center and was named a “high performing” hospital for stroke and maternity care by U.S. News & World Report for 2024-2025.
