On March 21st, diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) leaders from USC — including Keck Medicine of USC and the Keck School of Medicine of USC — attended the 2024 Los Angeles Business Journal Diversity, Equity + Inclusion Symposium to take part in conversations with other industry leaders.

This year, Shannon Bradley was a finalist for the DEI Executive of the Year Award. Since joining Keck Medicine as the inaugural chief diversity and inclusion officer in September 2023, Bradley has made significant strides in promoting an inclusive environment for staff, patients and the community, as well as strengthening the representation of the medical system’s DEI steering committee.

The symposium featured panels covering topics including “Building a Case for Equity,” “Blending the Generations for Success,” and “Evolution of DEI: Where We Are & Where We Want to Be.” As a panelist, Bradley shared Keck Medicine’s data-driven strategies, lessons learned and how health care can thrive under a diverse and inclusive mindset.

She emphasized DEI’s positive ripple effect throughout American health care, such as the ways that patients’ health affects their families, their communities, their professional lives and more.
