On July 16, Rod Hanners, CEO of Keck Medicine of USC, released an announcement regarding Keck Medicine of USC’s high rankings from this year’s U.S. News & World Report’s Best Hospitals issue. The memo has been reprinted here to make it easily available to all employees, patients and friends throughout Southern California.

The 2024-2025 U.S. News & World Report Best Hospitals have been announced, and once again, I am pleased to report that Keck Medical Center of USC was recognized among the very best hospitals in the United States.

Keck Medical Center, which comprises Keck Hospital of USC and USC Norris Cancer Hospital, was among the 30 highest-performing hospitals nationwide and among the top six hospitals in California. We continue to be among the top three hospitals in the Los Angeles metro area.

U.S. News & World Report analyzes 15 different specialties, and this year the medical center ranked in the top 50 nationwide for eight of those specialties.

In other highlights:

  • Our 2024-2025 rankings are higher than last year in six specialties, including our highest-ranked services, Urology and Geriatrics, both in the top 20.
  • Our medical center rated High Performing (the highest ranking possible) in 18 out of 20 common procedures and conditions that were evaluated nationally, an increase of three High Performing procedures and conditions from last year.
  • For the first time, U.S. News & World Report evaluated hospitals in Gynecologic Cancer Surgery, a category that combines former Ovarian Cancer Surgery and Uterine Cancer Surgery categories. Our medical center ranked High Performing in this category.

I speak for all leadership in thanking you for your dedication to providing patients with the highest level of care. We see the quality of your work every day and are honored to work alongside you.

Sincerely,

Rod Hanners
