At USC’s Conquest spirit event on Nov. 16, the American Heart Association presented the USC Trojan Family with the Heartsaver Heroes Award in recognition of its lifesaving actions in emergency situations and its commitment to help build a community of lifesavers in Los Angeles County.
Carolyn Kaloostian, MD, a member of the Board of Directors of the American Heart Association (AHA) of Los Angeles, presented the award to Sara Van Orman, MD, MMM, vice president and chief campus health officer of USC, and Russ Romano, director of operations for Athletic Medicine.
Kaloostian, who is also a physician at Keck Medicine, spoke about the professional health care teams at Keck Medicine of USC, the providers and staff of USC Student Health, and the Trojan Heart Heroes program training students, staff, neighbors and friends in Hands-Only CPR.
