A new graphic novel — or foto novela — titled, “Jackie’s Pain,” explains the risks of prescription opioid addiction to communities surrounding the Keck Medical Center of USC. “Jackie’s Pain” is the 11th in the popular Health Literacy Program created and directed by Mel Baron, PharmD, MPA, and published by the USC Alfred E. Mann School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences.
The goal of the program is to create engaging and accessible health information to be distributed at safety-net clinics, health fairs, pharmacies and other public locations. Filmmaker Gabriela Lopez de Dennis, a long-time collaborator with the USC School of Pharmacy, wrote and directed “Jackie’s Pain,” which is available in English and Spanish.
