Marie Poulsen, PhD, professor of pediatrics at the Keck School of Medicine of USC, and chief psychologist, Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles, has been appointed the chairperson of the Interagency Coordinating Council (ICC) for Early Intervention by Gov. Jerry Brown.

The ICC is a council composed of governor-appointed stakeholders interested in early intervention for children with disabilities. The members work to ensure that early intervention services such as family training, health services, physical therapy and more are available to infants and toddlers with disabilities in the state of California.

Robert Jacobs, MD, MPH, professor of pediatrics at the Keck School and head of the division of general pediatrics at CHLA, says that Poulsen is a great fit for this appointment.

“Marie has done a great job in the area of early intervention and infant mental health,” he states. “She was a member of the ICC since its earliest days, and there is no one better suited to lead the ICC at this critical juncture to advocate for, and assist in developing, this next generation of services for young children.  She has brought great recognition to the Keck School and USC and will continue to be a state and national leader in this area.”
