Brad Spellberg, MD, professor of clinical medicine at the Keck School of Medicine of USC, joined 14 other leading infectious disease specialists in Washington, D.C., from June 12-16 as part of the 2017-18 American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) Alan I. Leshner Leadership Institute Public Engagement Fellows.
The group gathered at AAAS headquarters for an intensive, weeklong program focused on public engagement and science communication training, networking and public engagement plan development.
The training will help Spellberg develop and execute a public engagement plan on health care reform, which will include discussion and analysis with leading policymakers, economic experts and health care advocates.
