The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors approved a five-year, $170 million annual funding agreement for the Keck School of Medicine of USC to provide patient care services and physician medical education at Los Angeles County + USC Medical Center. LAC+USC is the largest academic teaching hospital on the West Coast and one of the largest public hospitals in the nation.

“Our partnership with Los Angeles County began in 1885,” said Laura Mosqueda, MD, dean of the Keck School. “We are pleased to continue this historic partnership to provide superb medical care to the Los Angeles County community, including those who are most vulnerable.”

Through this partnership, county residents have access to the latest in diagnostic technology and treatment, including a Level I trauma center, Level III neonatal intensive care unit, burn center and 600-bed LAC+USC inpatient hospital. In addition, LAC+USC offers care through numerous outpatient primary care and specialty clinics, including psychiatry, ophthalmology and orthopaedics.

The LAC+USC medical staff includes more than 1,500 attending physicians from the Keck School and more than 900 medical interns and residents completing their medical education.

“Our faculty provide innovative therapies to improve patient outcomes, as well as teach and supervise hundreds of residents every year,” Mosqueda said. “Our relationship with LAC+USC makes us one of the premier teaching organizations in the nation, while providing our community with the latest in patient safety, quality and clinical care.”
