State-level cannabis regulations have been shown to have weak public health parameters compared to other countries, which leaves users vulnerable to harm, according to a new USC Schaeffer Center white paper. The researchers assert that federal policies could implement regulations across the nation that better protect consumers and promote reasonable use. For example, these policymakers can consider placing caps on the amount of the main intoxicant (THC) allowed in products sold in the marketplace and implementing purchase limits on popular high-potency cannabis products, such as edibles and vape cartridges, as has been done in other legalized jurisdictions abroad.
