Vladimir Zelman, MD, PhD, clinical professor of anesthesiology at the Keck School of Medicine of USC, was honored recently by both the Keck School and by his medical alma mater, Novosibirsk State University in Russia.
In April, the Novosibirsk University Governing and Scientific Board voted unanimously to rename their medical school the Vladimir Zelman School of Medicine and Psychology in honor of Zelman’s more than four decades of research, education and clinical practice in anesthesiology and critical care.
Holly Muir, MD, chair and professor of the Department of Anesthesiology at the Keck School, has also announced that the new departmental suite for anesthesiology will bear Zelman’s name, in honor of his 38 years of service to the Keck School and Keck Medicine of USC.
“Dr. Zelman has spent his career in the service of patients and their families, students and the international medical community. His research, mentorship and dedication to collaboration have advanced medicine in immeasurable ways,” Muir said. “His contributions will continue to be recognized by the naming of our suite.”
An open house and dedication event will take place at 4:30 p.m. Friday, June 22, at the anesthesiology departmental suite on the third floor of Healthcare Center 4 (HC4). For more information about the event or to RSVP, please email Deborah Caldwell at deborah.caldwell@med.usc.edu.
