USC Verdugo Hills Hospital has earned the distinguished Practice Transition Accreditation Program (PTAP) accreditation from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) for its nurse residency program. The recognition was announced in January.
The accreditation — based on a high rate of success in transitioning newly graduated registered nurses into clinical practice — marks the hospital’s commitment to nurturing and advancing nursing professionals, as well as ensuring sustained quality of care.
At USC-VHH, participants in the six-month nurse residency program continue their professional development in a hands-on hospital setting. It is designed to provide a post-graduate environment for new RNs to further develop and nurture their clinical skills.
The ANCC uses evidence-based criteria to determine a hospital’s readiness for the PTAP accreditation.
