A USC team led by scientists from the Keck School have discovered a technique for editing the genes of immune cells called B cells so they can monitor for cancer cells and HIV, then pump out specially designed antibodies to destroy them.
The research, published Monday in Nature Biomedical Engineering, is an important advance in harnessing the power of antibodies to treat conditions ranging from Alzheimer’s disease to arthritis.
