Critically acclaimed film director Jon M. Chu, a graduate of the USC School of Cinematic Arts, will return to his alma mater on May 10 to deliver the keynote address at the University of Southern California’s 141st commencement ceremony and will receive an honorary degree. Carol L. Folt, president of USC, made the announcement on March 28.

Chu’s body of work includes, but is not limited to, the 2018 blockbuster “Crazy Rich Asians” and “Wicked,” the long-awaited film adaptation of the stage musical and book of the same name scheduled to premiere in November.
