The student-led Connect for COVID-19 group is holding its second drive-thru donation event to collect electronic devices to help patients at Los Angeles hospitals stay connected with family and friends.

A donation box will be open Tuesday, May 19, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Biggy parking structure’s parking attendant booth, 1334 Biggy Street, on the Health Sciences Campus. Check out the flyer for more info. Those who can’t make it can fill out an online donation form, and the group will come pick up the device.

The group, led by the Keck School of Medicine of USC’s second-year medical students, is gathering gently used smartphones, tablets and laptops for use by patients who are infected with COVID-19 and can’t receive visitors.

In addition to devices, donors also can give money to support the program. The GoFundMe page is nearing its goal of $10,000 raised.

Donors are encouraged to wipe all data from their devices before donating. Here are step-by-step instructions on how to do so.
