A study led by Jesse Berry, MD, of the USC Roski Eye Institute, has discovered a way to use the fluid inside the eye to provide a yes or no diagnosis of retinoblastoma — an aggressive cancer of the eye that occurs in babies and small children.
Due to these promising results, she has received funding from the National Cancer Institute of the National Institutes of Health to take her research to the next level by studying samples from ophthalmologic oncology institutes from around the world.
