Keck School of Medicine of USC Dean Laura Mosqueda, MD, professor of family medicine and May S. and John H. Hooval Dean’s Chair in Medicine, testified during a hearing at the spring meeting of the Elder Justice Coordinating Council (EJCC) in Washington, D.C., in early June.
Mosqueda, who also is director of the National Center on Elder Abuse, shared her experiences as a clinician and an advocate for the elderly. She also fielded questions from United States Attorney General Jeff Sessions, Secretary of Health and Human Services Alex Azar and other government leaders on the impact of the national opioid crisis on senior citizens.
The meeting, held June 5, was in advance of World Elder Abuse Awareness Day on June 15.
