When Danny Kwok experienced drug-resistant seasonal allergy symptoms, plus changes in his hearing, he visited the USC Caruso Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery’s Arcadia location to find out what was going on.

Kevin Hur, MD, an otolaryngologist at the clinic, ran a series of tests, then asked Kwok where he was from. After the patient revealed that he was from Hong Kong, Hur’s diagnosis was confirmed: nasopharyngeal carcinoma, a type of cancer that is common in people from southern parts of China and Southeast Asia.
