The California Institute for Regenerative Medicine (CIRM), California’s state stem cell agency, has appointed Carolyn Meltzer, MD, dean of the Keck School of Medicine of USC, to its leadership board. She joins 35 Californians — including patients, advocates, researchers, educators and professionals from the biotechnology industry — who each have a proven commitment to accelerating the science that will someday deliver transformative regenerative medicine treatments.
CIRM is a voter-created agency that funds stem cell research throughout the state. In the 2023-2024 fiscal year, the institute invested $486.3 million in discovery, research, education and infrastructure.
