March is Self-Harm Awareness Month. Self-harm occurs most often around adolescence, but around 4-5% of adults in the United States will experience this condition at some point in their lives. There are effective treatment options that can help a person to regain control of their lives. Self-harm — or even considering it — is a sign of emotional distress, and it is imperative to seek professional help as soon as possible.
