In a 360 video, Andy McMahon, PhD, director of the Eli and Edythe Broad Center for Regenerative Medicine and Stem Cell Research at USC, is joined by USC Stem Cell’s world-class scientists on a tour of the Eli and Edythe Broad CIRM Center for Regenerative Medicine and Stem Cell Research at USC.
Gage Crump, PhD, professor of stem cell biology and regenerative medicine at the Keck School of Medicine of USC, leads a tour of the basement, which houses the zebrafish that he uses to study craniofacial birth defects, bone injuries and arthritis.
Min Yu, MD, PhD, assistant professor of stem cell biology and regenerative medicine, introduces the first floor, which features art installations and a seminar room. Yu’s lab studies breast cancer metastasis.
Justin Ichida, PhD, assistant professor of stem cell biology and regenerative medicine, and Seth Ruffins, PhD, specialized research advisor, tour the second floor, which has four core facilities for therapeutic screening, flow cytometry, stem cell engineering and microscopy.
Rong Lu, PhD, assistant professor of stem cell biology and regenerative medicine, explore the third floor. Lu studies stem cells that form blood and how they relate to cancers, blood and immune diseases, and can help with better bone marrow transplants.
On the fourth floor, trainees — including a high schooler, an undergraduate, two master’s students, a PhD candidate and a postdoc — talk about educational opportunities.
Neil Segil, PhD, professor of research stem cell biology and regenerative medicine, concludes the tour on the fifth floor. Segil’s lab studies hearing loss and balance disorders.
