In a study published in Cell Stem Cell, scientists from the Ichida Lab, part of USC Stem Cell at the Keck School of Medicine of USC, used lab-grown human brain structures known as organoids to establish a link between traumatic brain injury and degenerative neurological diseases — such as ALS and Alzheimers — and to find ways to mitigate the risk.
