Title IX — the landmark legislation that prohibits sex discrimination in educational institutions that receive federal funding — was signed into law on June 23, 1972. In recognition of this anniversary, the University of California is presenting a series of profiles on Trojan Title IX trailblazers.
In honor of the 51st anniversary of Title IX, the dean of the Keck School of Medicine of USC shared how sexism early in her career instilled in her a deep sense of imposter syndrome, how she was able to overcome it, and her mission to protect the rights of the school’s diverse population as the rights of women, racial and ethnic minorities, the transgender community and gender-affirming caregivers face new threats.
