Laurie Eisenberg, PhD, professor of research otolaryngology in the USC Tina and Rick Caruso Department of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery at the Keck School of Medicine of USC, has received the 2018 Jerger Career Award for Research in Audiology from the American Academy of Audiology (AAA). Eisenberg received the award at the 2018 Academy Honors ceremony at the Academy’s conference in Nashville, Tennessee, on April 19.
The award acknowledges Eisenberg’s pioneering research and ongoing influence “based on her significant and groundbreaking contributions to furthering scientific and clinical research in the field of pediatric audiology,” according to a statement from the AAA Honors Committee, which specifically cited her study of cochlear implants ranging from the original single-channel devices to the advanced multichannel systems in use today.
The AAA, founded in 1988, is the world’s largest professional organization of audiologists, with more than 12,000 active members.
