Ruth K. Peters, ScD (nee Ruth Ann Kloepfer), died from complications of progressive supranuclear palsy on July 20. She was 69.
Peters, an epidemiologist, retired in 2004 as director of medical education in preventive medicine and a professor of clinical preventive and family medicine at the Keck School of Medicine of USC. While at USC, she also served as an associate epidemiologist for the Statistical Consultation and Research Center at the Keck School, and as a member of the USC Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center.
Peters was preceded in death by her husband, John Peters, former Hastings Professor of Preventive Medicine at the Keck School, and is survived by two sisters, a brother, a sister-in-law, three stepsons, one stepdaughter, six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
