René Sotelo, MD, professor of clinical urology at the Keck School of Medicine of USC, delivered a talk on penile cancer as a part of the 2018 TEDxPasadena: TRANSFORM program recently at the Huntington Library.

During his Sept. 22 talk, Sotelo told the audience that although survival rates for breast and prostate cancer have increased, survival rates for penile cancer have decreased. He said that much of this is due to the shame, fear and ignorance surrounding severe penile cancer. Sotelo went on to examine the issue, and proposed new solutions for early detection and treatment.

René Sotelo speaks at TEDxPasadena’s 2018 TRANSFORM event.

The event is one of several put on by TEDxPasadena, a local self-organized TED community.
